Communications and Outreach Working Group
The Communications and Outreach Working Group (WG) brings member perspectives and practitioner experience to APTrust’s external presence. Members contribute to content, consultation, and community intelligence, amplifying what the APTrust community is doing and helping APTrust communicate thoughtfully during significant moments.
What the group does:
- Member-focused content: Coordinates approximately four blog posts per year, highlighting member spotlights, project milestones, and event recaps, with a lightweight drafting and review workflow.
- Strategic communications consultation: Serves as a sounding board when APTrust is planning communications around major decisions, such as fee changes or significant service updates. The group helps develop shared criteria for when consultation is needed.
- Community intelligence: Members share observations from conferences, publications, and peer institutions to help APTrust understand its external perception.
- Promotional materials and event sponsorship: Suggests branded outreach materials and advises on conference sponsorship opportunities aligned with APTrust’s visibility goals.
- Peer-to-peer advocacy: Supports members in speaking to colleagues at other institutions about digital preservation and community-owned infrastructure.
How the group operates: The working group has no standing meetings. Members convene for an annual content planning session and on an ad hoc basis when specific work arises, or a consultation trigger is activated. Members should expect to contribute approximately 8–10 hours per year. The WG reports to the APTrust Advisory Committee.
