Fulcrum
The Fulcrum platform, developed by the University of Michigan Library and Press, is an open-source publishing solution focused on enriched multimedia books and book-like research outputs. It hosts mixed and single-publisher collections for over 125 different scholarly publishers, and over 10,000 works are made available. The platform was developed with support from the Mellon Foundation and places a high priority on five design principles: flexibility, durability, discoverability, accessibility, and integrity. A particular focus of the Fulcrum platform is on supporting and legitimizing new forms of digital scholarship created by individuals and communities that prioritize media other than text.
