Welcome Melissa Iori, Lead Developer

We are delighted to announce that Melissa Iori has joined APTrust as our new Lead Developer! Melissa’s official start date is Monday, July 14.
Melissa brings an impressive background in full-stack software engineering, having honed her expertise at organizations including IBM, Seismic Software, and the Lucy Family Institute for Data and Society at the University of Notre Dame. At Seismic Software, she played a key role in scaling their NLP-powered knowledge base application to a user base of over 500,000. Melissa’s academic experience at Notre Dame involved developing enhancements for NSF-funded research software, where she collaborated closely with stakeholders from institutions like UCLA and UC Berkeley.
Melissa holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Tufts University, where her thesis explored user psychology in data visualization and a B.S. in Computer Science from Marist College. Her extensive technical skillset spans REST APIs, SQL and NoSQL databases, cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Azure), cybersecurity, and sophisticated web interfaces. Melissa also has a background in digital repositories, having worked with Invenio, an open-source repository from CERN.
Beyond her technical abilities, Melissa is deeply committed to fostering inclusive, collaborative, and positive team environments. She actively engages stakeholders at all levels, translating complex requirements into robust, user-friendly applications. Her passion for digital preservation aligns perfectly with APTrust’s mission to safeguard digital heritage through reliable and forward-thinking technological solutions.
As APTrust’s Lead Developer, Melissa will oversee the continuous improvement of our software, collaborate closely with depositors and stakeholders to enhance system capabilities and ensure that our codebase remains robust and maintainable for years to come.
