University of Arizona joins APTrust

July 03, 2019 News, Events

The Academic Preservation Trust Governing Board announced today that the University of Arizona Libraries have joined as the organization's newest member.  The APTrust collaboration of institutions (aptrust.org) is working together on the challenges of preservation of digital scholarly and cultural materials and research data.  Heads of higher education research libraries created the APTrust consortium in 2011, and APTrust began to offer a shared cloud-based preservation repository to the community in late 2014.  As of today, the consortium's members have together deposited more than 96 terabytes of digital content in that repository for long-term preservation.

The University of Arizona Libraries (UAL) see membership in the APTrust consortium as a cornerstone of our infrastructure supporting digital preservation, and the Libraries look forward to active participation in the APTrust community. The Libraries cultivate an environment that promotes inquiry, creative endeavor, scholarly communication and lifelong learning by enriching the lives of Arizonans and contributing to an expanding global academic community through our resources, services and expertise.
